Excellent. I would like to ask a question. It is the model of the production process. Because I found the game and did not use the normal map. I'm curious about your last hand drawn map effect of how the ZBrush model produced by. Can you teach me a general process. Thank you very much.

thanks!
this model is ingame. we use no normal maps, just hand painted texture. i do a sculpt to bake down the information then paint on top of it. this is the process www.polycount.com/forum/showpo…

very lovely sculpt, hate to fight her in league but such is life I suppose. I like all the little nicks that make the armor/exoskeleton look used.
Nothing quite like working with 9 million polys, can make all the wrinkles or even chainsaw bear fur.

ahh i thought so, was pondering over the idea of creating a normal map for a model of nocturne i was doing but decided against it in favor of classic low polyness :).

Sooo question from one aspiring 3D modeler to a professional: Obviously the game can't support this kind of poly count, so does the detail from this get transferred to the game via a normal map or something? Does this effect the in-game lighting or only the base texture?

yes the info gets baked down from the high poly. take that info (map) and put it on the low. paint the light etc details. we dont use spec or normal maps so no the in game light doesnt affect the model.

the characters are hand-painted, we paint the lighting etc ;)

I think I had heard that once but done on the scenery instead of the characters. I still find it weird but I understand the idea of baking the lights in order to optimize...

its done on both, Just like WOW. all handpainted. theyre lights in some places, but only for shadows, etc.
